Saw The Amazing Spider-Man and it was AMAZING (understatement).
The movie rekindled my desire to make movies (and become a superhero). And it also reminded me all the reasons Spider-Man was may favorite superhero.
However... dat suit. It looked good on screen, but irritated me in the promos, and the hardcore fans didn't like it much better. I'm not a purists when it comes to costumes by any means, I enjoy the artistic liberties costume designers make when translating costumes from one medium to another. The suit looked very cheap in the movies (which is great 'cause Peter made this on a no budget). It just didn't really feel like Spidey. Not too me.
Large eyes. The lenses are prescription (Peter Parker always wears glasses in my mind), and translucent (this gives the actor enough screen time without gratuitous mask removals).
The suit is made of a light weight jacket (easier to slip on) with his hood being the mask (I like hoodies, and it's functional.) The pants are a spandex-y material and have the webbing pattern to give the illusion of boots.
Instead of boots, Spidey has light weight
The webbing pattern is from a fabric he "got somewhere".
And external webshooters (spray painted red).
And a larger spider symbol. The symbol on his back is red and occupies the bulk of the real estate on his back.
